When you get an item that is unidentified and don't want to pay much you can do this and it will only cost you 50 gold coins. Drop the item in front of the lady that identifies things, then pick it up, then go to her and it will only coast 50 gold coins.

Go to the Blacksmith and go to buy. Then go to the where the Monks and priests armour and weapons are and buy the first mace. Then sell it. You will sell it for more than you bought it for.
